The works of Thai illustrator Phannapast Taychamaythakool were front and center at the Gucci Le Marché des Merveilles cocktail party, which celebrated the brand’s new collection of fine jewellery. The Le Marché des Merveilles fine jewellery collection explores the animal kingdom and was brought to life by Phannapast who was discovered by Gucci’s creative director, Alessandro Michele, on Instagram. Using the collection as a starting point, Phannapast illustrated a series of three fairy tales written by Thai curator Aracha Cholitgul. The tales form three chapters of a story about a “Wonder Factory” where animals create the marvellous jewels of this line.
For a limited time only, selected Gucci boutiques around the world will feature displays constructed to resemble mini theatres where Phannapast’s illustrations will help form scenes that make up the installation. The jewellery collection will also be showcased in these installations presenting the entire range, which includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings, rings and hand accessories in 18 carat gold or sterling silver adorned with precious stones or coloured enamels.
