This year’s Pink Ball at the Grand Hyatt was an evening of cocktails, fundraising and dancing—lots of it. Even better, it raised HK$6 million for the Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry, which provides free genetic screening and consultations for underprivileged families at risk of breast, ovarian and prostate cancer. Its chairman, Ava Kwong, welcomed guests with an update on the registry’s progress and highlighted its success stories. The live band had guests on the dance floor early on, and indeed into the early hours, with crowd pleasers like “I will Survive.” Patrick Wang, meanwhile, got flowers and a standing ovation for his dance routine, which alone raised more than HK$1 million, while an exuberant performance by professional dancers Marcel Frecautanu and Jurij Batagelj had the audience mesmerised. That left just the raffle prize draw and the closing of the silent auction to finish the night—and perhaps a bit more dancing.
