Michelle has broken through the silicon ceiling and is encouraging other women to do the same. After graduating from the University of Chicago, she followed a popular path for high-achieving students, going to work for Goldman Sachs. However, a life-changing trip to Silicon Valley for a women-only coding boot camp changed her path forever and made her determined to help other women in the tech world. She founded First Code Academy in 2013 with the goal of teaching young children to code and create their own apps, and in 2015 she collaborated with TecHKU to hold Girls4Tech, an event aimed at local secondary school girls. She is also the co-founder of Women Who Code HK and sits on the technology advisory council of the Women’s Foundation. She was awarded a Women of Hope Award in 2014 for her efforts. Go girl.
