Since it opened its doors in 1928, The Peninsula has been the finest hotel in Tsim Sha Tsui, if not all of Hong Kong. To celebrate its 85th anniversary this year, the “finest hotel east of Suez” is hosting a series of events that will reflect on its glorious colonial-era history, as well as reveal its plans for the future.

One of the most outward expressions of its celebrations will be held on the fourth Sunday of every month, where the hotel will bring a series of art performances to the heart of the hotel, the Lobby. Working with local organisations such as the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation, choreographed performances will be hosted for the enjoyment of the guests at the end of every month.

Also on the arts front, the Peninsula Academy will be launching its Hong Kong Traditions Well Served programme, which will feature practitioners and artisans of some of Hong Kong’s crafts, such as paper-tearing artists, shadow-play masters and lion dancers, allowing guests a peek into a past and history that is fast disappearing.

Finally, The Peninsula is well-known not just for the sumptuousness of its restaurants such as the Lobby and Gaddi’s, but also for the extreme comfort and luxury of its guest rooms. This May, the hotel will be revealing the new guestrooms located in the original building, which the hotel has promised to be the most “personalised hotel rooms in the world”, following its recent HK$450-million room enhancement programme.
