A true innovative inventor, Cesar Jung-Harada was well versed in launching engineering environmental solutions for aquatic problems, before founding MakerBay. A new market space for developing environmental solution, Markerbay has been working on solutions for critical man-made issues such as oil spills, radioactive leaks, and the decimation of coral reefs due to global warming. Especially concentrated on training the next generation of proactive leaders in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics), Caesar is working with a team that includes local students to develop a laser quadrat that can more accurately map the ocean’s coral reef.

His most remarkable invention to date is Protei, a revolutionary open-source sailing technology that allows for efficient clean-up of both oil and plastics from the sea. He’s a TED Senior Fellow, a Figure of Progress (nominated by GOOD and IBM) and an APEC Maker Awardee. Intriguingly, Cesar studied animation—his work has been shown at festivals and events around the world.
