Hong Kong Jockey Club Equestrian Programme

Does your child dream of becoming a world-class equestrian? The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s equestrian programme offers pony-riding classes for children aged 6 to 14 and horse-riding lessons for older teens. Children will also learn about horse care and the sport of equestrianism. The school has thoroughbreds imported from GermanyAustralia and the UK, including retired racehorses that have been retrained as school horses.

With Chelsea poised to win the Premier League title, now’s the time to enhance your child’s football skills with coaches trained by the London club and accredited by the Asian Football Confederation. Regular courses for footballers aged 5 to 17 are held every Saturday and Sunday at Kowloon Bay Park or the Lok Fu Blue Pitch in Wong Tai Sin. There are special courses for the younger ones (aged 3 to 7) at the Kwun Tong indoor pitch. Get in quick as space is limited and waiting lists can be long.

Now in its 10th year, the Aberdeen Boat Club’s Junior Sailing Programme welcomes children aged 7 to 11 who are interested in learning sailing skills. Students not only learn how to sail in seven-foot dinghies (Optimists), they also gain the confidence to take to the water and to become full-fledged club racers. Courses are run over five half-days, in the morning or afternoon.

If culinary skills are on the menu, you might want to consider cooking and baking classes by The Patsy. Regular classes are available every Saturday for children aged 6 to teens, where they can learn how to whip up cakes, cupcakes, pasta and pies. Toddlers are covered, too, with a preschool programme suitable for children aged 2 to 5 every Tuesday and Thursday.
