The stylist tells us about her love for Hong Kong and her favourite spots for food, fashion and unwinding

Sena Wakabayashi may originally hail from Japan but that doesn’t mean she hasn’t taken to Hong Kong. She’s currently in the process of developing and launching her eponymous personal styling, shopping, and fashion consulting business. However, she recently took some time off to speak to us briefly about her love for Hong Kong and where we may find her outside of the office

I love Hong Kong and all that it has to offerI really like how you can take aspects of the city and make it your own—everyone has their own version of the city. I feel so lucky to be able to dash into my office in Central, and then a ten minute drive later, be home with a sea-view and a lush backyard. This city is the ultimate urban jungle.

Usually I eat pretty healthily so I can hardly call myself a “foodie”, my favourite restaurants are atmospheric and have a real sense of place like Bibo, Ronin and Man Wah.

I believe it’s important to do some form of exercise everyday. I rotate between ashtanga yoga in the mornings, tennis twice a week and hiking with my team so we can brainstorm, get outside and just spend time together.

I never really plan on splurging, but when I do, I either love to get lost in fashion with beautiful designs that inspire me, or I like to unwind and get pampered. During those times, I usually head for Joyce, On Pedder or the Landmark Mandarin Oriental SpaThere’s no such thing as guilty pleasures because pleasure should never be laced with guilt.

If I need to escape the city, I love spending time in Bali. That’s where I got married, and it holds a special place in my heart, as I always feel very connected to myself when I’m there. I also try to make a trip home to Tokyo every month to see my family because spending time with them is something that is very important to me.
