We speak to the stylish entrepeneur behind Anagram about her hopes for the future and why family always comes first

Lois Tien has always had a love for fashion, one could even say that it’s in her DNA, given her father is Michael Tien – better known as the founder of the G2000 empire. As the brand manager of Anagram, a local brand that manages to bridge the prices of high-street brands with the aesthetics of high-end brands, there’s no doubt that she’s heading in the right direction.

We speak to Lois about Anagram’s progress to date and her hopes for the future:

Hong Kong is home – it’s pretty much where my entire support system is.

If I had to summarise Anagram in a sentence, it’s a brand that strives to bring affordable luxury to customers, using the finest European fabrics and yarns coupled with unique design aesthetics that starts from and caters to the cosmopolitan woman. Anagram is also proud to be one of the few local fashion brands in Hong Kong.

My proudest accomplishment is working with my family – at times it can obviously be frustrating but most of the time it is so rewarding.

Looking back, I don’t think it’s healthy to dwell on regrets – I believe it’s important to let the past inform you and to look forward.

I always find inspiration in my father – he’s ambitious, determined and next lost his love of learning. That perseverance is so hard to find in this day and age.

The best part of running your own business is being able to take full control of your own business, meaning you become much more personally invested in your work and every business decision you make – however mundane it may seem.

My advice to budding entrepeneurs is to just do it. As cliché as it sounds, the regret of inaction is often tougher to stomach than doing something and messing up.

My end goal is to build and strengthen Anagram’s global presence – and to hopefully help build Hong Kong’s profile as a fashion capital of Asia, and one day even in the world.

In ten years, I hope to be inspiring others and giving back to society – ten years is a long time so we’ll see what happens.

My words to live by are simple: “Live in the moment and have faith.”
