The juice cleanse company brought Joe Cross to Hong Kong to premiere his new movie

As Asia’s first juice cleanse company, Punch Detox was a pioneer when it launched in Hong Kong in 2010. Harvard and Yale-educated founders Angela Cheng Matsuzawa and Ann Cha have created a number of detox programs using their cold-pressed, unpasteurized juices.

The cleanses, consisting entirely of fresh, raw liquids, are designed to give the digestive system organs a much-needed rest. Formerly a chef at three Michelin-starred Jean Georges in Manhattan, Ann is the culinary mastermind behind Punch Detox’s products.

To celebrate their five-year milestone, Punch Detox brought Joe Cross to Hong Kong to premiere his latest movie “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead 2.” “One of our earliest sources of inspiration came in the form of Joe Cross, our good friend and global health and juicing advocate, who showed us how juicing literally turned his life around,” said Cha. Cross was the director, producer, and subject of the award-winning documentary “Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead,” seen by over 20 million people. In his first movie, he chronicled his journey, as an overweight man suffering from an autoimmune disease, back to health through juicing.

In the sequel, Joe tackles maintaining health in the modern world, interviewing a range of subjects, from world-class surgeons to office workers in Kenya. “Even having lost weight and gone medication-free, I still found it an ongoing struggle to keep the weight off – and I wasn’t alone,” Joe explained. “I realized there was still a lot we can learn about becoming healthy and staying that way, so I set out to capture and share that through Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead 2.”

Proceeds from ticket sales were donated to the Hong Kong Adventist Hospital Foundation, a charity partner of Punch Detox. You can view the trailer for Joe’s new movie here
