Revive and rejuvenate your skin with a quick facial treatment at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s award-winning spa

The Oriental Spa is definitely one preferred here in the Hong Kong Tatler office. Not only is it conveniently located in the heart of Central, but it’s also nestled on the fifth floor of the beautifully designed Landmark Mandarin Oriental. Stepping out of the lift doors into the ‘cocoon of serenity’, as the hotel likes to call it, I’m greeted with a warm cup of seasonal tea and asked to change from my street shoes into a pair of slippers. After being led through the sliding doors, I’m toured around the 1000 square feet of facilities before being left to change into a soft bathrobe.

I’ve arrived at my treatment a bit early, so take my time exploring all the facilities that the spa has to offer. As I move from the small vitality pool to their scented experience showers, from the amethyst crystal steam room to the Laconium, a Roman sweat bath, tension from my body and mind is released and I make my way to the zen relaxation room where I wait for my therapist to arrive.

A quiet knock on the door of the relaxation room wakes me from a light slumber and my therapist enters the room. She leads me to one of the spa’s smaller treatment rooms and sits me down to explain the treatment that I’m about to have. The Business Facial by Ivo Pitanguy was designed with the busy executive in mind. In just 45 minutes, the facial is meant to purify the skin and restore facial luster with medically inspired maneuvers that active microcirculation and skin cell regeneration. Brazilian plastic surgeon Pitanguy became a superstar in his home country for his revolutionary and effective techniques, bridging the gap between cosmetic and aesthetic procedures.

Following a deep cleansing of my skin with Ivo Pitanguy’s cleaning, detoxifying and toning formulas, the brand’s exfoliating powder is applied to slough away dead skin and smooth any imperfections. The slow and methodical circular motions against my skin are not only relaxing, but also meant to tighten and lift. All the products are from the brand’s essential skincare line and provide immediate and noticeable results. My therapist cleanses my skin once more following the exfoliating powder and applies the dermal mask, a thick and concentrated formula that is slathered generously onto my skin. As the mask sets, my neck, shoulders and head are massaged to reinvigorate and relax my body and mind. I nod off for a few minutes before the mask is wiped away and a light moisturiser is applied.

Before I know it, the treatment is over and I’m sad to have to leave such a relaxing morning so abruptly, but it is an express facial after all and the difference is definitely noticeable. As I’m led back to the changing rooms to get changed and back to work, I glance in the mirror and my skin is, in fact, glowing. Who knew what drastic changes could occur in just under an hour? For those who are short on time and are looking to rejuvenate and reinvigorate your skin, the Business Facial at The Oriental Spa may be the perfect lunch break or pre-dinner treat.

The 45-minute Business Facial by Ivo Pitanguy is available exclusively throughout April and is priced at HK$880 on weekdays and HK$960 on weekends. For reservations, contact The Oriental Spa on +852 2132 0011 or email lmhkg-spa@mohg.com
