We were invited to preview the documentary outlining the process behind Raf Simon’s first Haute Couture collection

Christian Dior is synonymous with fashion, glamour and impeccable Parisian style. Whether it’s the exquisite craftsmanship of their haute couture collections, or the fine tailoring combined with voluminous silhouettes in their contemporary ready-to-wear collections, Dior has always been at the forefront of dictating style within the luxury fashion industry.

French-born filmmaker Frédéric Tcheng’s latest documentary, Dior & I, outlines the story of Raf Simon’s inaugural haute couture collection for the fashion house, as it’s new artistic director following John Galliano’s controversial exit. Previously, Tcheng has co-produced Valentino: The Last Emperor, which was received with critical acclaim and was even shortlisted the Best Documentary at the 2009 Academy Awards.

Tcheng’s latest effort does not disappoint providing a behind-the-scenes look into Raf Simon’s modern approach to developing a collection, albeit a comprehensive haute couture collection with a short eight-week window. Touching on the iconic brand’s past, the documentary is a narrative exposing the stress and pressure in creating a collection and acts as a colourful tribute to the seamstresses who serve to create and deliver Simon’s vision.

Dior & I is out in Hong Kong cinemas on April 30, 2015
