From the awe-inspiring airport set by Chanel to the fusion of tribal motifs and modern touches, we list the highlighted collections from PFW SS16

Chanel

The French fashion house’s Spring Summer 2016 transports audiences to the star-studded Terminal Chanel. Under the lead of fashion genius Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel’s creative director, supermodel flight attendants worked their sophisticated yet relaxed uniforms in the spectacular airport set.

With inspirations drawn from around the world, the prints and textile references range from lkats, tartans and tweeds. Taking center stage in the show are travel-themed accessories such as mini-suitcase-inspired clutches and plane-print attire. One of the most awe-inspiring elements was the light-up Velcro sandals showed off by a few models.

 Louis Vuitton

The brand presented the eccentric blend of technology, fashion and the human experience through the lens of Nicolas Ghesquière, their creative director. Set amidst a dark show space divided by rows of glass-encased LEDs, the performance was brought to live with pulsating shades, moving pixels and digital motifs.

Inspired by Japanese manga Evangelion and Wong Kar Wei’s 2046, the collection showcased a cyber-edged blend of attire in funky cuttings and versatile use of materials. Highlights include slash-shouldered woven leather tunics, the knitted leather tank with a tribal trim of feathers and platform sandals.

 Valentino

Through the celebration of cultural aesthetics and drawing reference to legendary artists like Picasso and Braque, Valentino sheds light upon the recent issue of flowing immigrants crossing borders in search of safety and a better life.

The African-themed show began with the sound of beating drums, bringing the audience back to the primitive time on earth. Folkloric and modern, the collection features slit skirts in black, brown and red, along with tie-dyed loose-fitting pants and long, flowing dresses. You can also expect to see plenty of fringe and beading, adding tribal touches to the attires.
