Paying tribute to the achievements of pioneers and adventurers in underwater exploration, the Swiss watchmaker showcases the evolution of its renowned diving watch and stunning underwater photographs

Breathtaking images from the world’s finest underwater photographers, including Masa Ushioda, Aaron Wong and Laurent Ballesta are part of a special exhibition set up by Swiss watchmaker Blancpain in Hong Kong’s Ritz Carlton this month.

The photographs, together with a display showcasing the evolution of Blancpain’s famous diving watch, the Fifty Fathoms, illustrate the achievements of pioneers and adventurers in underwater exploration.

Blancpain’s historical connection with diving goes back to 1952, with the development of its first diving watch, Fifty Fathoms.

Since then the company has been committed to increasing awareness about the marine world, and has supported 11 different major scientific explorations, including the Pristine Seas Expeditions run by National Geographic and Laurent Ballesta’s Project Gombessa.

Last week, Pristine Seas Expeditions announced that it has reached a new record of 2,500,000 square kilometres of ocean explored and protected.

To celebrate this achievement, Blancpain presents a limited-edition Ocean Commitment Bathyscape Chronographe Flyback with blue dial, and equipped with its latest in-house movement, F385, which offers up to 50 hours of reserve power.

Sealed chronograph pushers allow the timers to be used to depths of 300 metres. Each model will be individually numbered and come with sail-canvas strap.

The Blancpain Ocean Commitment Exhibition runs from October 13 to 24 at the lobby of the Ritz-Carlton Hong Kong, International Commerce Centre, Kowloon.
