The celebrated Swiss awards show showcases an exquisite collection of shortlisted timepieces in the city this October

Hailed as the “Oscars of watchmaking”, the Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genève (GPHG) is known as one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in watchmaking today. This year, Hong Kong’s Liang Yi museum is the event’s first stop before it moves on to Seoul.

Founded in Geneva in 2001, GPHG strives to promote Swiss watchmaking and its value around the world. With an aim to celebrate the excellence of horological production around the globe, the annual award honors the finest creations and leaders in the watchmaking sector.

Each year, 72 exceptional timepieces across 12 categories are selected by an international jury team comprising various specialists in the horological world, ranging from watchmakers, historians to art critics – including Hong Kong Tatler’s own Editorial Director of watches, Sean Li.

The list of selected watches will be announced in early September following to which the outstanding pieces will go on a road-show starting from Switzerland.

With a stopover in Hong Kong, Seoul and Dubai, the travelling exhibition held during the months of October and November annually allows audience to feast their eyes on the finest timepieces of the year worldwide at the exhibition.

The GPHG award ceremony is held in November of each year at Grand Théâtre de Genève, drawing the crowds of elite representatives of the international watchmaking profession.

This October, the exhibition will visit Hong Kong with a shortlisted collection of exquisite timepieces, offering audience an opportunity to appreciate the beauty and craftsmanship of these watches.
