Montblanc are launching their first smartwatch collection, a collaboration with tech giant Google in May 2017. The Summit Collection will first be available exclusively though leading online men’s retailer Mr Porter for an initial two week run, before general release across Montblanc boutiques internationally.
The Swiss brand claims it’s the first high-end smartwatch collection that uses state-of-the-art-technology combined with premium materials such as slightly curved sapphire glass covering the timepieces display.
Available in seven variations, it aims to be the perfect digital companion for the modern man and, as such, has teamed up with Google to offer the new Android WearTM 2.0 operating system for smartwatches.
Key features include a full round touch-screen display, heart-rate monitor, barometer and a 4GB Flash storage that can be used to sync and play music without the need of a smartphone—all connected via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The watches also come pre-installed with apps including Runtastic, Google Play, Google Assistant, Uber and Foursquare.
Montblanc Summit smartwatches are all housed within a 46mm case in stainless steel or grade 5 Titanium, coupled with a selection of sporty and classic straps in rubber or handcrafted calfskin leather—in a range of colours including black, brown, green and deep blue.
Montblanc’s managing director, Toby Bateman, said: “This partnership sees Montblanc’s luxury collections on Mr Porter extend from writing instruments, leather goods and accessories, into our growing Fine Watch category — providing our customers with a unique blend of traditional craftsmanship and digital innovation.”
