We list our favourite watches from the biennial charity auction that is set to showcase creations from some of the worlds most established watchmakers

Founded in 2005, the Only Watch Auction is, as the name implies, a charity auction of one-of-a-kind timepieces created by some of the world’s most reputable watchmakers, with the aim of raising awareness and funds for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

This year, the sixth edition of the biennial auction will take place on November 5 in Geneva, a new location for this iteration, and will present a collection of 44 exceptional timepieces. Each timepiece is either the first of its kind as part of a limited edition collection, a prototype not available for sale anywhere else, or a watch designed especially for the occasion, which often include the most unique and comprehensive designs, proving to be a treat for collectors.

We list our top six timepieces below:

Blancpain’s Villeret Traditional Chinese Calendar

We liked the references to old-Chinese culture with the design elements of the Zodiac signs, the five elements, and ten celestial stems. The combination of the latter with the 12 animals of the zodiac that represent the terrestrial branches follows the sixty-year cycle that is central to Chinese culture

Harry Winston’s Ocean Dual Time Retrograde Only Watch

Honouring the spirit of the Ocean collection with its impressive case, movement, and case that wonderfully offset the high-performance style of the timepiece. The craftsmanship of the watch is spectacular as it boasts 281 parts, 32 rubies, a 44mm white gold case, and a silicon flat balance spring and a white gold skeletonized oscillating weight.

Breguet’s Type XX3813

We liked the sporty and sophisticated style of the watch plus the vintage aesthetic that references the flyback function of the original 1950s model.

Hermès Pocket Rose Gold Watch

We love how La Montre Hermès launched the In the Pocket Rose Gold watch with an H strap, with the ability to transition between a pocket watch and wristwatch, a re-edition of the rare Porte-oignon that was first introduced in 1912.

Hublot’s Classic Fusion Only Watch Britto!

Created especially for the occasion we liked how the Swiss watchmaker teamed up with Brazilian artist Romero Britto to create a timepiece that has a clear contemporary art influence, making for a distinct and dynamic timepiece.

Piaget’s Altiplano 900P Only Watch

The striking timepiece which is just as unique as the original Altiplano 900P with the exception of having specially designed red hands, the Altiplano 38mm 900P is the world’s thinnest mechanical watch. Merging the hand-wound calibre with the case elements, it is designed as a single entity in order to achieve record-breaking slenderness at just 3.65 mm thin.
