Golf masters—and budding pros too—can now get their golfing mitts on a full access pass to the Jack Nicklaus Academy of Golf, so you can master your stroke, sooner.

With a sprawling green in Hong Kong’s Sai Kung, the Hong Kong Golf & Tennis Academy is hosting this champion golfer-training regime for six months via the Nicklaus Academy.

What’s on offer

It’s called the Golden Bear Golf Passport, and it provides full access to Nicklaus Academy instruction. The golf academy is known for its state-of-the-art practice facility and hitting stations—not to mention form-improving training that guarantees to level out your handicap quickly.

While it may not be Jack helping you personally perfect your stroke, Nicklaus-certified instructors form part of the packaged deal too.

And all aspects of the game are covered: from the rules and on-course etiquette, to mental preparation and even the development of motor skills, insights most trainers only go into at the professional level.

 Stroke studio time

Up close, passport holders get access to the exclusive golf facilities at HKGTA but also the three Jack Nicklaus Coaching Studios.

Each studio is powered by video analysis software that enables coaches to review performance down to the very last detail.

The most sophisticated of their kind in Hong Kong the climate-controlled studios feature high-speed video analysis, launch monitors, and a pressure/balance mat, as well as putting stroke analysis to correct posture and poise.

Basically, be prepared for scrutinising observation and direction, but while still chasing that eagle shot, keep an eye on the prize.

Putting packages

This season, there are three packages on sale, each with varied number of hours for instruction and practice time.

The gold passport level includes two-hour golf services (private instruction and/or club fitting) and eight hours of driving range use. This comes with unlimited Nicklaus balls and automatic ball feeders, the use of the 6-hole short game facility, and four hours complimentary valet parking.

Platinum membership includes all the gold member perks but with four-hours worth of golf services and 16 hours of driving range use. Meanwhile, the diamond passport holder is the most advantaged, receiving six hours of golf services and 24 hours of driving range use.

 Make it friendly

Not yet a HKGTA patron? Passport holders need not be, but it’s a great way to test the club’s facilities. Plus, for an additional cost, you can bring a friend (or three maximum) to putt—or slug—it out with on the green (consider working on that stroke before you invite others to see you play).

The Golden Bear Golf Passport starts from HK$26,999 for six-month’s access to the Nicklaus Academy facility. Opening hours are Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 10pm.

The range and practice areas are lit for night play. The passport is the go-to post-work stress release for the golf-loving gent. And, for those wanting to maximise their leisure and try the game for the first time, kicking it with the pros on the green.
