There’s no better way to ring in the cooler season than to treat yourself and your loved ones with these decadent afternoon tea sets

The beginning of a new month means that our favourite five-star hotels and restaurants will be bringing new energy to the local dining scene with a bunch of exciting menus.

Not to be outdone by brunch, afternoon tea is another much-loved tradition in Hong Kong which continues to reign supreme with unique collaborations and themes. Here are eight brand new afternoon tea sets to enjoy this season:

1. W Hong Kong

WOOBAR at W Hong Kong is joining hands with renowned chocolate maker—Valrhona—to capture hearts of chocoholics with a decadent afternoon tea set. Guests can indulge ten bite-sized treats crafted with premium chocolate in different cocoa percentages, such as Guanaja 70% dark chocolate ganache croissant with blackberry, and Caraibes 66% dark chocolate soft sponge and coconut tapioca. 

The set is priced at HK$488 for two on weekdays from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm, and $638 for two on Saturdays and public holidays with an additional all-you-can-eat selection of savoury canapés paired with two glasses of sparkling wine.

2. JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong

If nibbling on an array of delectable treats with panoramic views overlooking the harbour sounds like your idea of a leisurely afternoon, you won’t want to miss the brand new afternoon tea presented by JW Marriott Hotel Hong Kong.

Guests can expect savoury delights such as mango lobster salad with caviar, abalone tart and tiger prawn spring roll. Just make sure you leave room for sweets, including matcha tiramisu, yuzu macaron, as well as the freshly baked plain and raisin scones served with jam and Devonshire clotted cream.

The set is priced at HK$268 per person and HK$468 for two on weekdays, and HK$288 per person and HK$488 for two during weekends and public holidays from 3:30 pm to 6 pm. You may also add HK$100 for a glass of Moët & Chandon champagne to elevate your dining experience.

Luxury fashion and lifestyle brand Shanghai Tang is collaborating with Café 103 at The Ritz-Carlton for an exquisite afternoon tea set to celebrate its 25th anniversary.

Shaped to mimic a birdcage, the beautiful three-tiered stand itself is a nod to the brand’s iconic aesthetics and craftsmanship. With edible delights such as BBQ pork with cheese and onion egg tart, foie grass mousse with caviar blinis and liquorice gelée with red dates, diners can experience a taste of both Chinese and Western flavours made with finest ingredients.

The set is priced at HK$428 for one and HK$698 for two people, available from now till November 17,  3:30 pm to 5:30 pm daily.

If things have started looking extra rosy to you recently, you may already know it’s that time of the year again: the Breast Cancer Awareness month, which calls for people’s attention to show support and care to those affected by the disease.

Kowloon Shangri-La is offering a pink-inspired afternoon tea set for this worthwhile cause, that's almost too pretty to eat. Served in a beautiful four-tiered golden birdcage, guests can indulge in an enticing spread of rosy-hued treats including prawn tartar with spicy mayo and crispy sakura shrimp, and duck foie gras terrine with pink champagne jelly.

On the sweet side, you’ll find exquisite pastries such as sakura strawberry jelly and pink chocolate guava mousse crunch bar.

5. Ammo

Designed by award-winning interior designer Joyce Wang, Ammo is tucked away from the hustle and bustle of Admiralty and is nothing of stunning.

This Italian restaurant has just partnered with the luxury home furnishing brand—Indigo Living—to launch a unique afternoon tea set in celebration of the brand’s 40th anniversary. Looking both delicious and elegant, the set features savouries such as prawn tartare with sago crisp and creamy crab waffle with caviar.

To satisfy your sweet tooth, Ammo’s executive chef Jack Law has prepared desserts including cinnamon apple crumble tartlet, marble lemon cheesecake and ruby velvet cupcake.

The set is priced at HK$528 for two persons, available from now till November 5, 3 pm to 5 pm daily. Each set is complemented with one beautiful gift from Indigo Living—teacup and saucer, candle or diffuser—while stocks last.

Tea lovers, this one’s for you. Featuring premium earl grey tea that blended with the finest bergamot, Tea WG’s tea-infused pastries are just ideal for welcoming the cooler weather.

This renowned Singaporean tea brand has created special treats such as gluten-free waffles accompanied by whipped cream infused with earl grey and maple syrup, and fried chorizo croquette with ricotta cheese infused with smoky Russian tea. 7. Hotel Icon

Here's another premium afternoon tea set to satisfy your chocolate cravings. Green at Hotel Icon has just launched a scrumptious menu with pastries crafted with premium chocolates from legendary Belgian brand—Godiva.

With sweets including chocolate truffle with gold flakes and dark chocolate lollipop with roasted hazelnut, the assortment is balanced out with savoury items such as Spanish chorizo on toast and chocolate foie gras with green peppercorn. The set also comes with unlimited Godiva dark chocolate soft serve and a selection of ice cream cups for an extra dose of indulgence.

8. InterContinental Hong Kong

Colours and patterns are not only a winning combo in fashion, but also in afternoon tea. This season, InterContinental Hong Kong is collaborating with the US fashion house Tory Burch to present an afternoon tea set with treats inspired by the brand’s Autumn/Winter 2019 collection.

The hotel's acclaimed culinary team has interpreted the aesthetic, autumn colours and floral designs of the collection, and turned them into stylish bites. Guests can indulge in a wide array of artistically curated items such as BBQ pork with purple sweet potato bun, saffron scallop and ink bread, and raspberry and rose tartlet to name a few.
