At the annual Asia's 50 Best Restaurants unveiling—held once more in Bangkok tonight—a number of Hong Kong chefs and restaurants came away with accolades. Our Local Champion award winner and this year's Best Female Chef May Chow gave a speech filled with zingers ("If May can cook, so can you—and I stole that from Yan Can Cook" and "Watch out, I'll be stealing your spot next year" were particularly amusing) while Umberto Bombana of Otto e Mezzo was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement award.
Below is the full list of honoured restaurants from Hong Kong and Macau:
Other highlights were awards going to chefs we've interviewed recently, such as Gaggan Anand, who scooped the #1 spot for the third year in a row; Andre Chiang, who landed at #2; and Hiroyasu Kawate of Florilege, who joined the list for the first time after receiving last year's One to Watch award.
