Hotel Okura Macau’s Japanese restaurant showcases a unique sake pairing menu this spring

This spring, Yamazato of Hotel Okura Macau will team up with Kariho Sake Brewery (Akita Seishu Co., Ltd.) to host an exclusive month-long promotion titled “Culinary Delights”.

Located in the Northern Tohoku region of Japan facing the Sea of Japan to the west, Akita is home to Kariho Sake Brewery which was founded in 1850. Surrounded by four other prefectures including Aomori, Miyagi, Yamagata and Iwate, Akita’s agriculture relies strongly on growing rice with an exceptional quality. From April 5 to May 5, guests can enjoy a series of exclusive Japanese delicacies that pair well with Kariho’s prized sakes.

The menu highlights include grilled scallop with miso and kiritanpo hot pot, best paired with Kariho Junmai Daiginjo Ginsenju, bottle-aged in low temperature with a delicate aroma and fruitiness on the palate, as well as Dariho Daiginjo, a premium sake made with Yamadaishiki and Miyamaishiki rice, as well as the label’s unique Karioho Junmai Junkei Krakuchi 80, a refined sake produced from Akita Komachi rice, known best for its soft and mellow rice flavours.

The month-long celebration of Akita prefecture esteemed food and sake are showcased in the Akita kaiseki set lunch, priced at MOP 580 per person (MOP 730 with sake pairing), and Akita kaiseki set dinner at MOP 1,580 per person (MOP 1,830 with sake pairing).
