Hong Kong diners shared their favourite dining experiences and gourmet hot spots

Having launched a brand new collection of dining events this season, from the Jean-Georges Vongerichten meet-and-greet dinner at Mercato to Antonio Lai’s cocktail masterclass at VEA, Asia Miles’ dining activities include a new voting campaign for Hong Kong members. For two weeks since end of October 2017, the city’s food lovers voted for their favourite gourmet hot spots spanning across five categories. On November 15, 2017, the voters have spoken Asia Miles proudly announced this year’s winners in its “Hong Kong’s Favourite Restaurant – Member’s Choice” Awards.

Nearly Two million Hong Kong voters took part in the campaign, and Asia Miles divided this year’s shortlist of restaurants and bars into five categories: Choosy Foodies, Cool Vibes, Photogenic Feasts, Night Owls, and Hidden Gems, with ten nominees in each. Covering everything from local eateries to exceptional fine-dining establishments, members voted for their favorites while sharing their most memorable dining experiences. Five members with the most heart-warming stories will win an exclusive cooking class with local television chef Lee Ka-ding, chef patron of the newly opened Ding’s Kitchen.

Cool Vibes winners include the city’s best fine-dining establishments, such as the Ritz-Carlton’s Tosca, The Pottinger’s Gradini, and The Peninsula’s Gaddi’s, which had the edge over the other strong contenders for the Members’ Choice award. Headed by Hong Kong Tatler’s 2017 Best New Chef award winner Xavier Boyer, Gaddi’s has long been an institution for fine-dining in Hong Kong, with generations of exceptional takes on French cuisine using seasonal European ingredients and creative presentation.

Coming a long way since its early days as the once-famous Woo Cheong pawn shop, a historical monument in itself, The Pawn is headed by world-famous celebrity chef Tom Aikens, with a strong mixology arm headed by resident mixologist Tunny Alexander. The Pawn offers a unique take on contemporary British cuisine and is a favorite for cocktail lovers of the city.
