The elegant cocktail bar project by Attire House and Ginza’s Bar High Five is now serving at 8 Wyndham Street

Forget your January detox. Or, think of it this way—create a New Year’s resolution to drink only the best, and head to Bar De Luxe to make it happen. The Wyndham Street cocktail bar is the long-awaited project by Brandon Chau and Roger Chan of Attire House, and award-winning bartender Hidetsugu Ueno of Tokyo’s legendary Bar High Five.

The latter may sound familiar, following the bar’s two-month stint over at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental’s MO Bar, where we got a taste of Ueno’s brazen bartendering style. His protegee, Yuriko Naganuma, is now heading up the Central bar to carry on the legacy of shaking up exquisite Japanese cocktails.

One of the new creations concocted especially for the Hong Kong bar is Naganuma’s The Hidden Gem, combining Nikka from the Barrel whisky with Japanese yomogi herb liqueur, Amaro Averna and sugarcane sugar syrup. Other drinks include:

  • Full Bloom (Kirigin Fuji Sanroku whisky or Bulldog London Dry gin with cherry blossom liqueur, Luxardo Maraschino, and lemon juice or homemade roasted tea bitters)
  • Misty (Nanbu Bijin sake, 6100 vodka, DOM benedictine and honey liqueur)
  • Black Negroni (Bulldog London Dry gin, Carpano Antica Formula vermouth and Fernet Branca)

A number of snacks are also served, including Iberico ham, lomo and foie gras bonbons, cheese and olives.

And if you still need convincing, Ueno will be visiting Hong Kong and will be the resident mixologist at Bar De Luxe between 23 and 25 January.
