Undoubtedly, Belon by Black Sheep Restaurants is one of the most highly anticipated openings of the season, with talented young chef James Henry at the helm. For its opening week, we partnered up with this modish Soho bistro to present #TheFirstSupper, an inaugural event inviting the city’s tastemakers to get an exclusive preview of the hottest new opening.

Among the hits at the exclusive soiree were Henry's homemade naturally leavened country-style bread with salted Normandy butter, sea urchin sweet potato waffles with smoked bacon cream, and the piece de resistance – a whole roasted chicken served with pommes Anna.

Guests included Victoria Tang-Owen, Christopher Owen, Antonia Li, Ruth Chao, Calvin Wang, Vincent Guy Raffin, Feiping Chang, René Chu, Charlotte Hwang, Veronica Lam, Jonathan Cheung, Helen Ma, Sena Wakabayashi, Paul Husband, Marielle Byworth, Roni Hiranand and Nadia Harilela.

Just how good was the spread put on by chef Henry? Well, we spotted on Instagram that at least a few of our esteemed guests made it back to the restaurant as soon as the very next day.
