Blue Bottle Coffee And Cupping Room Open At IFC Mall, Creating A New Coffee Haven For Central
With the opening of Blue Bottle Coffee’s second Central location, and a new pop-up by Cupping Room and La Vina, Central’s IFC has become Hong Kong's newest coffee hub. It’s become a bit of a running joke that every week, there is a new cafe or coffee shop to visit but, so far, there doesn’t seem to be anything to contradict it—not that we're complaining. The new coffee destinations join the existing line-up of good coffee options in the mall already including Arabica, Fuel and BYO By Nodi, ensuring that the office workers and shoppers of Central are very well caffeinated at all times.
Blue Bottle Coffee, which opened last year to great fanfare on Lyndhurst Terrace, attracted a similarly excited crowd to the third floor of IFC on their opening on 27 January 2021; the West Coast coffee brand has taken over the space formerly occupied by Panino Giusto, and the open layout is light and airy, decked out in the brand’s signature light blonde wood. There are a few exclusive items to the second location, including the brand’s own-branded coffee grinder, and a series of canned organic cold brew coffees; purchase six and you’ll get a covetable Blue Bottle Coffee insulated bag as well to hold them in.
Other highlights include lesser seen beans from Myanmar’s Kyauk Kuu Pyin, a remote village in the southern Shan State; Blue Bottle has been sourcing coffee from the region since 2016. On the food front, the cafe has also introduced some local collaborations, such as maple scones from local maker Grandma’s Scones. Blue Bottle Coffee is open daily from 10am to 7pm.

On the first floor of IFC, located under the escalators near Nespresso and Zara, is a new pop-up kiosk by Cupping Room and La Viña, the Basque burnt cheesecake specialists. The venue is launching in celebration of their newly expanded range of coffee products, from coffee capsules to canned “flash-brewed” sparkling coffee and drip bags. The pop-up is open from 11am to 8pm daily, with both sweet and savoury treats available to purchase—including a limited edition, location-exclusive Attaboy coffee-infused Basque burnt cheesecake. Attaboy is Cupping Room’s signature seasonal espresso blend featuring single origin beans from Ethiopia and Colombia, roasted in Italian style for a rich flavour. Coffee geeks should also know that the IFC location is the only Cupping Room venue selling a Chinese New Year edition drip bag coffee featuring Gesha Village Lot 89 beans.
The Cupping Room and La Vina pop-up will stay at IFC Mall until 27 April, so there’s plenty of time to get your coffee and sweets fix.
