Blue Bottle Coffee will launch its third major international outpost in Asia on Lyndhurst Terrace in Central

One of the world's most iconic coffee brands has landed in Hong Kong. Blue Bottle Coffee, founded by James Freeman in Oakland California in 2002, has multiple branches internationally—and now one more has joined the family with a fresh new café on Lyndhurst Terrace in Central. The café has been rumoured to open for a while now; an initial soft launch was planned for early February but undoubtedly delayed in light of the COVID-19 situation.

Known for its minimalist aesthetic and signature New Orleans-style iced coffee flavoured with chicory, Blue Bottle Coffee will join the highly competitive coffee landscape in the Central area that is home to cafés such as Interval, Knockbox, Coco Espresso, NOC, Fineprint, Nodi and Double Shot by Cupping Room. It has the benefit of being on the larger side, however, with two stories situated next to the Central-Mid Levels escalator. On the ground floor is where customers can enjoy coffees as well as shop for merchandise, while upstairs is where you'll find the iconic pourover bar and a number of seating options including leather-and-wood director chairs. The cafe is designed in collaboration with Japan-based Schemata Architects, who were behind the look of all the Blue Bottle Coffee cafes in Japan.

The cafe will be open from 8am to 5pm daily for takeaway for the time being, with no exact dates for dining in to be introduced just yet. The menu for now will be small, with a limited number of espresso-based drinks, pourover coffee, cold brew, New Orleans-style iced coffee, teas, and food such as pastries, waffles, avocado toast and toast with almond butter and jam.
