The restaurant will launch the Portuguese artist’s latest works with an invite-only cocktail event and an exclusive dinner showcasing an art-inspired menu

As the city gears up for an intense period of on art appreciation, Bibo will be spearheading the celebration of contemporary art pieces by Portuguese artist Vhils, also known as Alexandre Farto, with a unique menu.

Launching on March 16, the celebration begins with an invite-only cocktail event co-hosted by Hong Kong Tatler to preview the exclusive art pieces, followed by an exclusive dinner whereVhils himself will be present. Following the launch, the menu will be available for one month at Bibo.

Renowned for his explosive style that fuses street art with aesthetics of vandalism, Vhils’ creations bring textures and patterns across walls and surfaces through different techniques, creating pieces that remind us of the relationships with our surroundings and a clear urban context.

Inspired by Vhils’ collection titled Debris, Bibo’s chef Mutaro Balde is presenting a five-course dinner menu as a tribute to the Portuguese artist. We can exclusively reveal that dishes on the menu include:

  • Diorama (white asparagus, egg mimosa chicken jus and parmesan foam)
  • Scratching the Surface (sautéed girolle mushrooms, dry apricots, shallots, chives and black olives)
  • Mayhem (slow-cooked Sagabuta pork, cumin and carrot puree, beetroot, baby onion petals and foie gras ravioli)
  • Homogeneo (poached line-caught sea bass, black truffle mashed potatoes, endive petals, grilled squid and beurre blanc
  • Erode (white chocolate mousse, hazelnut rocks, blueberry balsamic sauce, raspberry sorbet; or crepe with hazelnut chocolate cream, chocolate sauce, mascarpone cream and vanilla ice cream)

The menu is priced at HK$1,280 per person and HK$200 from each menu will go to support HOCA Foundation, who have organised a special tram art project with Vhils to be exhibited from March 10 to April 12.

Want to be a part of it all? The March 16 event is reservations only and Bibo is offering Hong Kong Tatler readers priority booking to the dinner to meet the artist himself. Participants to the dinner will also receive a special token from the Vhils tram project as a memento. Parties interested in joining this one-night only dinner event can make reservations here until 6pm on March 14.
