The newly revamped Dining Room at The Racing Club at Happy Valley Racecourse is a triumph of both design and gastronomy

The doors have finally opened on a freshly renovated Dining Room at The Racing Club, revealing a sleek, modern space characterised by clean lines, soft lighting and contemporary furnishings. The sophisticated new dining environment is further enhanced by its sweeping views over Happy Valley Racecourse, and is the perfect place to gather with family and friends, either in the spacious, stylish and comfortable main dining area, or in one of the two private rooms.

The Dining Room’s cuisine has also been crafted with a new concept that includes contemporary Chinese dishes and premium hotpot options, the latter ideal for the current season. Fish maw, sea whelk and honeydew melon soup is as sumptuous as it sounds; rich yet refreshing, while the Mandarin fish fillets in a base of green peppercorns and mountain peppercorns is layered, flavourful and primed for those with a penchant for spice.

The Racing Club’s chefs have come up with a plethora of inventive soups using high-quality ingredients in their intense hotpot bases, as delicious alone as they are with the abundant additional ingredients on offer, including seasonal seafood and fresh fish straight from the tank, premium meats, homemade meatballs, wontons and noodles.

Diners can customise individual sauces to accompany their hotpot with shallots, coriander, garlic, chilli, fried anchovy, dried onion and dried shrimp, as well as special homemade sauces that really set the offering apart.

The new contemporary Chinese cuisine menu, featuring refined regional dishes with a twist, is just as creative as the hotpot offerings. Why not start with the cherry tomatoes in basil and black sweet vinegar, or the foie gras terrine in fermented rice wine? Entrées include Sichuan-style simmered Mandarin fish fillets in spicy chilli oil; slow-cooked chicken in soy sauce and Chinese rose wine; and Longjing tea-smoked duckling—just a taste of the many mouthwatering menu items.

The renovated restaurant, which is located on the eighth floor of Members Stand II at Happy Valley Racecourse, offers an enriched and memorable dining experience that will delight Hong Kong Jockey Club members on non-race days, while on race days will elevate Racing Club members’ enjoyment of watching horses sprint down the home straight to be first past the post. Don’t delay: indulge in the new gastronomic experience at the Dining Room.
