The three Michelin-starred sushi restaurant has set up shop in the Central location

First opened in 2012 under the name Sushi Yoshitake, Masahiro Yoshitake’s acclaimed restaurant has cemented itself as one of the most reputable sushi-ya in Hong Kong as Sushi Shikon. With Yoshiharu “Kaki” Kakinuma at the helm, the three Michelin-starred venue presents traditional Edomae sushi using the best ingredients from Japan.

The restaurant has relocated to Landmark Mandarin Oriental, operating under the same roof as Amber and, soon, Kappo Rin—the second restaurant by Luke Clayton, the director of both Sushi Shikon and the new offering.

Like the original restaurant, Sushi Shikon is an oasis of calm, dominated by hinoki wood; the decor eschews flashy details, moving into understated elegance with iconic Japanese design elements, from Kumiko-style woodworking to maple motif inlays and tsuchi-kabe plasterwork.

The venue itself still maintains an eight-seater hinoki wood counter from where diners can receive their sushi direct from the chefs, as well as an intimate six-seater private room. Click through the gallery below to see the details from the restaurant, set to become a new classic.

Lunch is priced from HK$1,800 per person, while the omakase menu in the evening is set at HK$3,500. Advance reservations are essential.
