From café concepts by luxury fashion houses to bakeries offering bombolonis, here are the trendiest cafés to visit this month

There’s truly something for everybody here in this month’s crop of new cafés. For those looking for a luxurious dining experience, Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue has opened at Marina Bay Sands with delectable brunch, pâtisserie, and coffee options. Not far from there, Ralph’s Coffee, Ralph Lauren’s café concept accompanying its new retail space in the same mall, is also serving up classic American desserts.

For those looking for a simple catchup with friends, Café Margaret, Singapore’s newest Korean café, has set up shop in Bali Lane with a plethora of Instagram-worthy delights. Back to Eden, meanwhile, offers plant-based brunch items that show that vegan food is just as flavourful as non-vegan fare. And for those into bombolonis, a visit to Nakey is a must, for its sourdough-leavened doughnuts filled with cream.

Bacha Coffee has opened its newest outlet at Marina Bay Sands called Bacha Coffee Fashion Avenue, spanning a stunning 300 square metres. With black-and-white chequered tiles, white-and-gold latticework and beautifully-crafted caftans displayed on the walls, the space is reminiscent of the luxurious coffee rooms of Marrakech. The menu includes over 200 coffees (including single origin coffees from Ecuador, Nepal, Yirgacheffe and elsewhere) and a selection of exquisite pâtisseries to boot.

Outlet exclusives here include the blueberry and lavender croissant, which is only available until September. If you’re looking for savoury options, there is also a range of savoury croissants or truffle scrambled eggs for an indulgent brunch.

The newest Ralph Lauren store at Marina Bay Sands has brought with it Ralph’s Coffee, the American luxury house’s landmark café concept. With an adorable life-size Polo Bear greeting you at entry, enjoy a cup of joe brewed with Ralph’s Roast, a specialty blend made with beans sourced from Central and South America. The brand has focused its efforts on perfecting drip coffee, but options like the sea salt caramel latte won't disappoint either. And if you need a sugar re-fuel, pick from Ralph’s selection of cakes, cookies, and soft-serve ice cream.

3. Back to Eden

A plant-based diet is not just a passing fad but a lifestyle, which Back to Eden takes very seriously. Here, you’ll find plant-based brunch plates that don’t just look delectable—they taste good too. Oyster mushrooms, for instance, are marinated with a house-made Malay herb and spice mix, then fried for an insatiable crunch to dip with a dairy-free mayo zested with lime. Swiss rosti is also on the menu, with dairy-based sour cream swapped out for a homemade cashew sour cream, and accompanied by a protein-packed tofu scramble, mushrooms, creamed spinach, and roasted tomato with pesto.

4. Café Margaret

Another South Korean import, Café Margaret offers a glimpse of the popular two-story cafés in Seoul with its cute and homely interiors. Pick your pâtisserie on the first floor, where gems like matcha cream cube pies or red velvet cream cheese cookies are gloriously laid out for your perusal. When you’ve picked a favourite, head up to the second floor to indulge in a relaxed and rustic atmosphere.

5. Nakey

Another newcomer has come to disrupt the doughnut scene. Nakey, located in Chinatown, is offering freshly-baked bombolonis in flavours like lemon basil and nutty praline to satiate your cravings. Each bomboloni is created with a liquid sourdough starter, which uses wild yeast to leaven the dough for a characteristic aromatic tang. Wash it down with an exciting selection of flavoured coffee, such as pistachio latte and Biscoff and caramel latte for those with an extra indulgent sweet tooth.
