This year’s selection sees 79 food establishments awarded with a Bib Gourmand, including 19 new laureates

The Michelin Guide announced today its selection of food establishments in Singapore graced with a Bib Gourmand, totalling 79 eateries—17 of which are new additions to the Guide, and two promoted eateries. With 2022’s selection at 67, this year’s increase marks Singapore’s continued status as a reputable food city.

With 21 restaurants, 53 hawker centre stalls, and five street food establishments, Michelin Guide international director Gwendal Poullennec said the selection made for a “diverse variety of casual eats that define Singapore’s street food and local hawker food scene”. “The inspection team has discovered a great number of hawker stalls with flavoursome dishes from different ethnic groups, each with their own secret recipes. Beyond taste, these gems are also an inheritance of culture, which serves as a strong positioning of Singapore’s cuisine to both locals and tourists.”

Stalwarts in the Bib Gourmand category include Song Fa Bak Kut Teh at New Bridge Road, famous for its peppery, clear Teochew bak kut teh, and Muthu’s Curry, an icon in Singapore’s food scene since 1969. Restaurants include Kotuwa by chef-owner Rishi Naleendra (Cloudstreet, two Michelin stars), his exciting third venture serving up the flavours of his Sri Lankan heritage.

Among the two restaurants awarded a Bib Gourmand include Kok Sen, a heritage business that’s been around for over 50 years serving up tze char kissed by by the wok. The other is The Coconut Club, a tropical oasis located in a traditional shophouse that impressed inspectors with its nasi lemak set and ayam goreng berempah, a spiced fried chicken with crispy rempah (spice) crumbs best served with rice and sambal.

Don’t forget the 17 other hawker centre stalls newly awarded a Bib Gourmand, including Adam Road Noo Cheng Big Prawn Noodle at Adam Food Centre, which serves up luscious bowls of prawn noodles bursting with umami using an inherited recipe from the owner’s father. Ji De Lai Hainanese Chicken Rice is another hawker centre stall previously recognised in the Michelin Guide, but its simple yet delectable chicken rice recipe inspired inspectors to promote it to a Bib Gourmand. Other stalls include Selamat Datang Warong Pak Sapari at Adam Food Centre, famous for its mee soto and mee rebus, and Bahrakath Mutton Soup.

The Michelin Guide’s Bib Gourmand award category is inspected by anonymous inspectors on the lookout for the best dining experiences with exceptional value for money. The Michelin Guide will be unveiling its full Singapore selection on June 27, so keep your eyes peeled to see which restaurants you need to look out for.
