The gourmet izakaya debuts a new form of omakase menu this summer

For the first time since its opening, Gonpachi, Causeway Bay’s celebrated Japanese izakaya, is presenting a brand new form of omakase menu. The Blazing Sumiyaki omakase set menu features 15 varieties of sumiyaki (grilled) items ranging from seafood to meat offerings, as well as signature dishes from the restaurant. The new set menu begins with Japanese green salad and three varieties of sushi (sweet prawn, scallop, and seasonal fish), followed by sumiyaki items (prawn, cuttlefish, fresh eel, chicken wings, asparagus wrapped with sliced pork, maitake mushroom, and tsukune with onsen egg). Guests can indulge in braised jumbo clams soup, homemade cold buckwheat noodles, and glutinous rice pearls in pumpkin coconut cream as dessert.

A more luxurious option is available, with more extravagant sumiyaki items such as abalone, scallop, Miyazaki A5 wagyu beef, as well as the restaurant’s signature seafood teapot soup. Gonpachi’s sumiyaki omakase menus are available daily during dinner service from 6:00 pm, and are priced at HK$680 and HK$880 per person respectively.
