The daughter of Francis Lui is unveiling her first dining project in Macau—a beautiful lifestyle store and café inspired by tea culture

After the chaos of the Christmas holidays, what could be more soothing than a cup of tea? On January 5, Galaxy Macau will unveil Cha Bei, a new lifestyle café situated in The Promenade Shops at the Cotai resort. The driving force behind the concept is none other than Joanna Lui, daughter of Francis Lui

Inspired by the culture and history of the humble tea cup, Lui created the concept of Cha Bei to bring people together over global teas, healthy dishes and beautiful patisserie. “Tea is the perfect medium for conversation and creating community,” she says.

The café will also offer brunch, and the menu is full of dishes that are fresh and healthy as well as comforting, and include international influences; sections include “The Healthy Wholesome Choices”, “The Comfort Choices”, and “The Guilty Choices”. Dishes that are planned include:

  • The Not So Traditional VAV (vol a vent)
  • Cha Bei salad (seasonal leaves, green mango, quinoa, toasted almonds, coconut dressing)
  • Aloha poke bowl
  • Fish soup rice noodle with Iberico pork chop and choi sum
  • Make your own buns (minced pork, water chestnut, steamed couscous bun, sunflower seeds)
  • Signature Cha Bei soufflé

Naturally, the café will showcase a collection of vintage teaware, sourced from collectors, antique stores and flea markets around the world. A retail section, dubbed The Gift Gallery, will offer a curated selection of gourmet treats, teas, fashion accessories, homeware, kitchenware, books and seasonal flower arrangements.
