Chef Nicco Santos will be serving up contemporary South-East Asian creations alongside the team at Mrs Pound for two nights only in February and March

Manila’s restaurant scene abounds with serious talent, and slowly but surely their chefs are making a name for themselves not only in their home country but abroad as well. Following on from the recent announcement that Chele Gonzalez from Manila’s Gallery Vask will be in Hong Kong to cook at Haku, we’re excited to hear about Hey Handsome’s two-night residence at Mrs Pound soon after.

Hey Handsome is the creation of Nicco Santos, a young gun that started his culinary training in the States before traveling extensively. Eventually, he moved back to the Philippines where he set up Shiok, loosely inspired by his time in Singapore. Soon after, he melded his memories of Brooklyn and South-East Asia to create Your Local—a convivial neighbourhood eatery serving pan-Asian dishes in Makati. Hey Handsome is all about bringing that sense of bonhomie and hospitality to the dining room—the name of the restaurant takes a cue from the cheeky call of Singaporean hawkers jostling for customers’ attention—and the menu is an eclectic mash-up of Malaysian, Thai and Peranakan flavours.

At Mrs Pound, Santos will be cooking up dishes such as lamb rendang with cucumber and mantou, and lemongrass blue crab with santol fruit. Mrs Pound will supplement the menu with their signatures, such as steak char kway teow and cheeseburger spring rolls.

The crossover menu will be available on February 28 and March 1 for dinner only from 6:00pm, and no reservations will be taken.
