The Spanish asador-inspired restaurant in Wan Chai welcomes summer with refreshing, healthy dishes

Best known for its Spanish asador-inspired concept with a diverse range of cocktails offered, The Optimist has been a hot spot for dining since it opened last autumn. The Spanish restaurant has recently launched a new all-day dining menu for its ground floor space, showcasing a healthy approach to a fine gourmet feast, from light lunches to small plates for sharing.

The establishment’s new all-day menu is served on the ground floor, featuring breakfast items such as buttermilk pancakes, topped with a choice between bacon, bananas or blueberries, as well as a generous helping of berry coulis, melted chocolate or traditional maple syrup. Eggs come highly recommended as well, as broken eggs or Spanish-styled omelettes are topped with a choice of toppings from chorizo, to Manchego cheese and black truffles.

For light lunch options, guests can choose from a fine selection of composed salads from The Optimist’s Caesar salad with kale, ensalada de pulp with grilled octopus and edamame, toasted quinoa tabbouleh with pomegranate and cashew nuts, and smoked salmon salad with avocado and lime dressing, among others. A richer alternative would include filled sandwiches, bagels, and grilled breads, such as the restaurant’s signature burger with prime beef patty, Manchego cheese and a fried egg, served with hand cut chips on the side.

The new all day selection also includes afternoon nibbles such as cold meat and cheese board, crostini and vegetable crudites and Daniel Sorlut oysters with a fine selection of mocktails and smoothies to choose from.
