New Hong Kong Restaurants To Look Forward To In 2017

2016 may have been a challenging one on many levels, but the dining scene didn’t let up with its mixture of stellar new openings and incredible guest chefs: we had the likes of Frantzen’s Kitchen, Kaum at Potato Head and Bar High Five bringing international stardust to the neighbourhoods, while chefs such as Andre Chiang, the Roca brothers and Isaac McHale made their way over for exclusive pop-ups.
This year, there are quite a few things on the Tatler radar that we’ll be keeping track of. Below are the restaurant and bar openings that we’ve sniffed out and are anticipating this year. You heard it here, first.
Octavium by Umberto Bombana
The king of truffles is expanding with a new restaurant in Central, tentatively opening July 2017. Read more
Indian Fine Dining Establishment by Black Sheep Restaurants
The esteemed local restaurant group is finalising details on an Indian restaurant in Central, tentatively opening late this summer.
Yakimon and Sakana no Aji
The new two-storey Japanese project on Lyndhurst Terrace will replace My Tai Tai and Ee Da Le. The new establishment will be divided into two separate sections: Yakimon (serving Japanese grilled/ fried items) and Sakana no Aji (serving sushi).

Ying Jee Club
ZS Hospitality Group's latest offering is a Cantonese establishment next to its Vietnamese opening Moi Moi. The new Chinese fine dining restaurant will be headed by former Duddell's chef Siu Hin-Chi. The new restaurant is set to open later this summer.

The popular American import has opened its first Hong Kong branch in Central.
Wolfgang's Steakhouse, 1/F Printing House, 6 Duddell Street, Central
Kaiseki Den by Saotome
Formerly known as Wagyu Kaiseki Den, the Hollywood stalwart is taking up the former space housed by Gin Sai on Cross Lane, Wan Chai. Tentatively opening early May 2017.

The Michelin-rated ramen shop, which opened its first branch outside of Tokyo last year in Singapore, is making its way to Hong Kong this May. Works have already started on their Tang Lung Street location in Causeway Bay, and we can't wait to get a taste of Yuki Onishi's signature shoyu ramen spiked with black truffle. Read our review

Dalloyau Pop-Up at Pacific Place
The celebrated patisserie is launching its first pop-up on Hong Kong island, showcasing a range of cakes, savoury sandwiches and its signature soft-serve.
Employees Only Hong Kong
The popular speakeasy from New York City is landing Hong Kong with its second Asian branch after last year's launch in Singapore. Read more
After more than five years on Bridges Street, the Yardbird crew are flying the nest to set up an even bigger, more impressive venue in Sheung Wan. There will be a space dedicated to Sunday’s Grocery, which closed its physical location last year but continues to run online.
