Conrad Hong Kong has appointed chef Luca De Berardinis as the new specialty chef at their signature Italian restaurant

Conrad Hong Kong has appointed award-winning chef Luca De Berardinis as Nicholini’s specialty chef. Starting this month, De Berardini, will present a brand new Italian menu for the restaurant. 

Raised on his family’s farm in the Abruzzo region of Italy, De Berardinis grew up with produce fresh from the fields and was lured into the culinary world by inspiring home cooking. He began his formal culinary training at the age of 12 and worked in various award-winning restaurants in Italy including, Ristorante Perbellini, Ristorante La Bastiglia and Ristorante San Domenico.

The newly devised a la carte menu at Nicholini’s showcases De Berardinis’ flair, coupled with the finest ingredients from Italy. His creations tailored for Nicholini’s include:

- Spaghettoni with garlic, olive oil, scampi and cocoa nibs

- Mediterranean tuna in a potato crust

On August 9, 2014, De Berardinis will work with Christopher Purves, an English bass-baritone, to present ‘Flavour of Opera’ at Nicholini’s. Purves will perform five of his favourite songs between courses during the evening. Nicholini’s has also invited Jacqueline Leung, a Hong Kong-based pianist who has collaborated with some of the world's most distinguished musicians, to provide the piano accompaniments.

This opulent one night only operatic encounter features a five-course opera-inspired dinner menu and is priced at HK$1,288 per person, or HK$1,588 with wine pairings.
