The new venue in Wan Chai fuses detailed Oriental accents with creative cocktails to match

Following the success of nightlife establishments such as Iron Fairies, Maggie Choo’s, as well as Sing Sing Theatre; Ashley Sutton, the brainchild within these stylish hot spots, is launching Ophelia in Hong Kong. The new nightlife destination brings Sutton’s signature style from the Far East to Wan Chai.

Inspired by local history, Ophelia showcases the lavish style of a 19th century opium den, with the iconic silhouettes of waitresses in cheongsam dresses parading through the space that is richly packed with intricate metal work and plush velvet furniture. Showcasing intricate design details dedicated to the peacock, 600,000 tiles with hand-painted with the eye pattern of the iconic bird’s feather can also be spotted in the dining space.

The strikingly stylish décor embellishes the newly furnished space, which also showcases a selection of small plates by Australian chef Angus Harrison, as well as creative cocktails with flavours from Asian herbs, spices and fruits. Notable bar creations include:

- The Jade Cat (Iwai Japanese whiskey, Baika Ranman umeshu, house-made bitter green tea liqueur)
- Le Plumage (Sagatiba Cachaca, blood orange, gold slab syrup, Shisandra Dram, Lime, Chili-infused charred pineapple and green tea chocolate rim)
- Cheongsam (Tequila Reposado, house-made pomegranate cordial, La Quintinye Vermouth Rouge, lemon, lime and cinnamon mist)
