Felix

As part of The Peninsula’s Love Art season, Felix lays on a five-course dinner menu inspired by the world of opera—everything from Carmen to The Magic Flute to none other than Dame Nellie Melba herself. Felix’s cocktail bar will also be serving up Love Art–themed cocktails, as inspired by Michael Craig-Martin, Gary Hume and Damien Hirst. The menu runs through March and April.

Whisk

The Mira Hong Kong is all about good design, so it makes sense that its restaurant is laying on an art-inspired menu for the third year in a row. The six-course degustation menu (March 9–26) presents artfully plated dishes themed by colour: from “Japanese Green” amaebi shrimp sashimi with avocado to “French Pink” seared foie gras.

Bibo

Jeff Koons, Aya Takano, Damien Hirst and Banksy line the walls of Bibo, where an art-first philosophy extends to the interiors and the plates. Decked out like a 1930s French tramway, Bibo serves up fine French fare that’ll leave you eager for more…if you can tear your eyes away from the walls. Art Basel VIPs get a free glass of champagne.

Carbone

New York Italian restaurant Carbone features a contemporary art collection picked by independent curator Vito Schnabel, son of painter and director Julian Schnabel (and boyfriend of Heidi Klum). If the art isn’t enough, then Carbone’s rightly legendary spicy rigatoni vodka certainly will be. Save a spot in your calendar for the art edition of The Fiasco (March 25), Carbone’s equally legendary boozy party brunch.

Dine Art

This 4,000sqft industrial space combines art with Italian private dining, making it the perfect post-Basel spot. On one side, the NockArt Gallery hosts an exhibition of new works by New Zealand painter Euan Macleod, created after a trip to the Yellow Mountains in Anhui Province. On the other side, a huge table seats up to 24 and chef Cosimo Taddei preps classic Italian fare in his open kitchen. Bookings are essential.

Djapa

Bibo’s brand new sister restaurant has a distinctly more casual air. But this Japanese-Brazilian restaurant not far from the HKCEC is just as art-inspired. The space is designed by leading Brazilian street artists TOZ and Bicicleta sem Freio, while work by Japanese icons such as Takashi Murakami and Yayoi Kusama is dotted throughout. Art Basel VIPs get a free glass of champagne.

Duddell’s

This arty cultural spot will be a favourite of the great and good at Art Week, with at least one VIP dinner taking advantage of Duddell’s superb Cantonese food from its award-winning kitchen. Upstairs, a pop-up lounge with Ruinart champagne will keep the open-air terrace buzzing late into the night with debate and dealmaking alike.

Le Marche by Philippe Orrico

Chef Philippe Orrico of On Dining and Upper Modern Bistro is behind this pop-up at Art Central. Inspired by European gourmet food markets, you can grab a platter of charcuterie and cheese, or tuck into more classic sustaining fare. Cocktails come from bartender Giancarlo Mancino, creator of Mancino vermouth.
