Pont Des Arts Taps Renowned Spanish Artist for New Wine Collection

Pont des Arts has launched a new collection of wines, including its first ever rosé, featuring the artwork of Miquel Barceló
If you haven’t heard of Miquel Barceló, here is the artist in brief: he is one of Spain’s most celebrated living contemporary artists, has been influenced heavily by Velasquez, Rembrandt and Tintoretto, was the youngest artist ever to be exhibited at the Louvre and is currently exhibiting at the Picasso Museum in Paris. Rather a spectacular resumé.
If you aren’t able to pick up and pop over to Paris, however, you can see his work closer to home—on the labels of a new range of wine by Pont des Arts, the brand founded by French entrepreneurs Thibault Pontallier and Arthur De Villepin in 2010.
The latest collection features seven new wines from Bordeaux and Burgundy, as well as Pont des Arts’ first ever rosé, Vieilles Vignes ‘Réserve Spéciale’ 10th Anniversary, a collaboration with the renowned French winery, Chene Bleu Vineyard.
The Chêne Bleu vineyard, owned by the Rolet family, is nestled very high in the Dentelles de Montmirail, in a historically significant site over 1000 years old, near Châteauneuf-du-Pape in the South of France.
The blend is dominated by 65-year-old organically farmed Grenache with just a touch of Syrah, with bright notes of citrus and exotic fruits, and aromas of summer flowers.
Pontallier and De Villepin describe Pont des Arts as a “bridge between art and wine, the East and the West.” Previous Pont des Arts collaborations have featured the work of Chinese artists Zao Wou-Ki and Yue Minjun.
Pontallier is also the spokesperson in Asia for Chateau Margaux, of which his late father was director. Until his passing in March this year, Paul Pontallier was heavily involved in the selection and blending of wines for Pont des Arts.
