The only Hong Kong restaurant that made it on this year’s World’s 50 Best list is doing a one-day pop-up with the burger giant on July 13
Fresh from having cinched the 41st place on the World’s 50 Best Restaurants list announced earlier this week, The Chairman is set for a rare collaboration with popular burger giant Shake Shack. This will mark the first Hong Kong-based crossover for the Top 20 Best Restaurants awardee since its collaboration with Foshan’s 102 House two years ago, and will be its first venture with the popular burger restaurant.
Celebrated for its unique take on Cantonese cuisine with an MSG-free Chinese fare without short-cuts, the decade-old Chinese restaurant has captured hearts of food lovers with its highly Instagrammable signatures such as steamed flower crab with chicken fat and aged Shaoxing wine, and a modernised interpretation of the gold-coin chicken, replacing steamed buns with deep-fried buns as a base to a stacking mount of chicken liver and sugar-cured pork fat. Led by restaurateur Danny Yip and the restaurant’s chef de cuisine Tung Kwok-Keung, the revered Cantonese establishment is home to dishes revived from a repertoire of lost or disappearing classics.
The bespoke burger for Shake Shack will only be available for one day on July 13. The Chairman's owner Danny Yip comfirmed he had been in talks with Shake Shack since early 2019 to create the unique burger, which will be limited to 800 servings available only on the day of the promotion at Shake Shack's IFC branch. Guests will be able to sample this specialty item prepared with one of The Chairman's signature items sandwiched between toasted buns. A special edition milkshake will also be available on the day to pair with the crossover treat. The one-day-exclusive Shake Shack x The Chairman collaboration will take place at the IFC Mall branch of Shake Shack.
