You don’t need an excuse to indulge in the weekends, especially when Alibi at Cordis has launched a new tapas concept

Sundays were meant for taking things slowly, and one of the best ways to spend the time is to enjoy a relaxing lunch with friends and family. One of the newest culinary offerings in town can be found at Cordis’ modern European restaurant and bar, Alibi, which has just launched a Sunday tapas lunch concept, where diners can make their picks from a menu of small and large plates designed for sharing.

Perched on the 5th floor of the Cordis hotel in Mongkok, Alibi is a spacious urban-styled restaurant that stretches out over 5,500 square feet. With its eclectic colour palette and diverse seating options, it’s a venue that is free of pretension and conducive to a few hours of gastronomic exploration.

Keenly priced at HK$298 per person, the Sunday tapas lunch includes the choice of two appetisers with a main course and an unlimited dessert selection. Seven appetisers are available on the menu for you to mix and match, such as a 64˚C hen’s egg with creamed corn and crisp quinoa; a classic Cobb salad with baby butter lettuce, gorgonzola and jamon; smoked black cod riles with house-made lavash; OBE organic grass-fed beef tartar with smoked paprika and grilled sourdough; and scallop ceviche with fennel pollen and cucumber. You can also upgrade your tapas experience by opting for the langoustine sashimi with Fuji apple gel and caviar, or a mini charcuterie platter with Iberico chorizo, 48-months Iberico ham, mixed olives and lavash, each available for an additional HK$40.

For your main, five diverse options are available from vegetarian-friendly house-made fresh tagliatelle with beetroot and goats’ cheese to carnivore-pleasing OBE wild Hereford rib-eye served with garlic and house-made triple cooked chips. Miso marinated black cod is a vibrant array on a plate, the oily fish paired with sweet clams and an avocado puree.

Can’t get enough of seafood? The menu also offers a Symphony of Seafood platter for an additional HK$398, which is large enough for two to share and includes delights such as Alaskan king crab, seasonal oysters and Hokkaido scallops served with three different sauces (yuzu kosho mayonnaise, bergamot ponzu, and classic cocktail).
