The Chinese restaurant at Island Shangri-La Hong Kong celebrates the annual Chinese occasion with new treats to heighten the festive spirit

This year, Summer Palace is launching two new varieties of glutinous rice dumplings as part of the celebrations for Tuen Ng Festival. Island Shangri-La Hong Kong’s Cantonese restaurant is presenting one each of savoury and sweet treat versions of the treat, specially designed for the festive season. The hotel’s executive Chinese chef Leung Yu-King takes inspiration from the traditional bamboo leaf-wrapped rice dumplings and reinvents the conventional form with a modernised version, adding abalone and conpoy to salted egg yolks and organic pork belly. The savoury rice dumpling is priced at HK$368 per piece. Yu’s sweet counterpart is a glutinous rice dumpling infused with 60-year old dried tangerine peel and red beans, priced at HK$288 per piece.  Summer Palace’s Tuen Ng glutinous rice dumplings are available from now until June 24, 2020.
