Sushi Zo And Gishiki Lounge To Open At Tai Kwun This April
After the successful launches of a series of restaurants from David Thompson’s Aaharn to esteemed Jiangnan cuisine at Old Bailey, Tai Kwun is set for two new Japanese concepts this spring, as the Hong Kong outpost of Los Angeles’ Sushi Zo is tentatively opening this month, together with a cocktail lounge named Gishiki Lounge.
Originated in Los Angeles with popular branches in New York City, Bangkok and Tokyo, the new Sushi Zo is set to present a unique and exclusive omakase dining experience. Limiting to two seatings and a total of 14 guests served per day, three executive chefs will createa daily-changing dinner menu featuring dishes based on the availability of the freshest market harvests that are flown-in daily. The 18-course dinner omakase menu is available nightly in two seatings, from 6:00 pm to 7:45 pm and at 8:00 pm to 9:45 pm, priced at HK$2,500 per person.
Opening adjacent to SushI Zo is Gishiki Lounge, the sushi bar’s counterpart and contemporary cocktail lounge whose name means ‘ritual’ in Japanese. The intimate establishment will showcase contemporary cocktails created and crafted by an experienced team of mixologists led by cocktail maverick Billy Lau, with signature concoctions created with flavoured ice blocks pressed into the shape of traditional Hannya masks. Both Sushi Zo and Gishiki Lounge are tentatively opening this month.
