The weekly food market is back with a refreshed look, an exciting new vendor line-up, and monthly spotlight themes

Autumn has finally arrived in Hong Kong, and back just in time for everyone to enjoy the cooler weather is Taikoo Place’s beloved outdoor food market. Tong Chong Street Market, operated in collaboration with local social enterprise Honestly Green, kicks off on November 5 with a brand new look and refreshed line-up of organic farmers plus food and beverage vendors.

For the first time, the market will also be hosting a coffee festival that sees a host of independent coffee purveyors from around Hong Kong and overseas coming together to present a bevy of signature coffee drinks and products. Spearheaded by Josh and Caleb Ng of Twins Kitchen, the festival features brands such as Common Ground, Glory Coffee, Urban Coffee Roasters, Return Coffee Roastery, Hazel & Hershey, Badass Coffee and Café Sausalito; international roasters such as Goodman from Taiwan and APF from Guangzhou are also featured. The Roastery Lab by Coffee Academics has even created a bespoke Tong Chong Street Market blend using beans from Brazil, Colombia and West Java, with tasting notes of dried mango, roasted nuts, wine, caramel, and chocolate.

For one-day only on November 5, Honestly Green founder and Gen.T lister Janice Leung-Hayes will be manning the Home Brew stall, presenting a line-up of batch brews using beans roasted in Hong Kong:

- Inferno Dynamics: Kabuya, SEGEC Mpanga washing station, from Kayanza, Burundi. Natural Bourbon.

- Cupping Room: Timana growing group, from Huila, Colombia. Caturra, Colombia and Castillo

- Redback Specialty Coffee: Colombia "Soft Brew", Andino cooperative, from Pitalito, Huila Colombia. Caturra and Castillo

“Specialty coffee has really blossomed in Hong Kong recently, and we now have a lot of great local roasters. We thought it was high time to bring as many of them together as possible,” says Leung-Hayes. “Twins Kitchen have done an amazing job at curating the festival. Tong Chong Street Market has always been a platform for small food and beverage businesses, and it's great to see that there are enough passionate people in particular niches—enough that we can create a festival!”

The market will be operating every Sunday 11:00am to 5:00pm from November 5 2017 to February 11 2018 (excluding 3, 24 and 31 December) and will feature a line-up of vendors including Honbo, Waffling Beans, Roots Eatery, Heroes Beer Co and more.
