The new location on Hollywood Road will be larger and gives chef Vicky Lau the space to evolve new culinary concepts

Five years on since Tate's inception, chef-owner Vicky Lau is moving west and taking her award-winning restaurant to Hollywood Road. The team have bid farewell to Elgin Street and will be re-opening this February, with 3,800 square feet of space designed by JJ Acuna of Bespoke Architect. A state-of-the-art kitchen, private chef's table and cocktail lounge are some of the highlights, while the ground floor will host Poem Patisserie, Lau's new dessert venture.

Over the last few years, Lau has been quietly expanding her culinary points of reference through overseas internships and collaborations; she spent time at Kitcho in Kyoto, learning about the art of kaiseki, and partnered with chef Thomas Bühner of La Vie in Germany for a four-hands dinner.

So what can you expect at the new Tate? Having just welcomed her first child into the world in 2015, Lau is inspired by the power of nature and will be focusing on fresh, wholesome and seasonal ingredients to nurture the soul. She'll be introducing two prix fixe menus, and will add a vegetarian version to pay tribute to the season's bounty. With more space to breathe, this new chapter of Tate should be an exciting one—we're looking forward to seeing the new space, and Lau's new culinary creations.
