Head down to the Fashion Walk branch of Elephant Grounds to get your fix of the world-famous—and possibly world's most expensive—wagyu katsu sando by the Tokyo-based beef purveyor

Editor's note: This story has been updated on August 22 as we have been informed that the public session of the pop-up will now take place from 7:00pm instead of 6:00pm as previously reported.

If you want to have a taste of what has been coined the "world's most expensive wagyu beef sandwich", then make sure you plant yourself in the queue at Elephant Grounds in Causeway Bay's Fashion Walk tomorrow (August 22, 2018) before 7:00pm. The cult beef purveyor will be selling limited quantities of their famed dish of thick-cut steak set between lightly toasted bread.

The pop-up is happening in advance of the opening of the first Hong Kong branch of Wagyumafia, which we reported on in our round-up of hot new restaurant openings to look forward to this year. Hisato Hamada of Wagyumafia was in town just earlier this year, where he worked with La Rambla to present a beef feast for two nights in February.

The price of the sandwich at the Wagyumafia x Elephant Grounds pop-up is yet to be announced, but to give an idea, the signature Chateaubriand wagyu katsu sando sells for ¥20,000 (approximately HK$1,400) in Tokyo. Stay tuned as we bring you more details.
