Wan Chai’s Pici to Open This February

The group behind Pirata and The Optimist launches the area’s first neighborhood pasta bar
St. Francis Yard is about to get bustling, as the team behind Pirata, The Optimist, and Tokyolima is opening Pici, a casual Italian pasta bar, adding lively character and buzz to this quiet neighborhood of Wan Chai.
Named after the thick spaghetti-like pasta traditionally made simply with flour and water, Pici is offering an affordable array of pastas, all handmade and rolled daily by the kitchen team, headed by young Italian chef Andrea Viglione. A born-and bred Italian himself, Viglione’s passion for creating a satisfying bowl of pasta is evident in his creations at Pici, where guests can casually stop by for a great bowl of pasta and a glass of wine. The establishment will be a casual, homely setting filled with bright and airy interiors with warm exposed timber and wooden shutters that invite natural light and a view of the neighborhood.
Viglione’s pasta creations will focus greatly on seasonality, showcasing pasta varieties from different regions of Italy, including gluten-free options on request. Guests can indulge in a range of starters and desserts with classic Italian cocktails and wines served by the glass or carafe.
Pici is set to open on February 6. The 56-seat pasta bar has a no-reservation policy and is open for both lunch and dinner.
