We asked five of the hottest chefs in town to play the role of journalists and pepper each other with some difficult questions

The inaugural Taste of Hong Kong event may be behind us, but it wasn’t that long ago when our #TatlerTable gathered the city’s best chefs in one spot, where they discussed pressing issues in the culinary world and their preferences on all things food and drink.

The four-day event, presented by Standard Chartered, gathered food-lovers from all around town to sample the best each participating restaurant had to offer. Through samples of signature dishes we were offered a glimpse into what these restaurants are all about.

While food may tell you a lot about a restaurant, it’s always more fun getting to know the chefs behind the scenes – and in our video below, we caught up with five of the city’s best: Amber’s Richard Ekkebus, Yardbird’s Matt Abergel, Chino’s Erik Idos, Serge et le Phoque’s Charles Pelletier, and The Ocean’s Agustin Balbi.

Through the fun part of interviewing each other, the chefs were able to find out more about each other as well. From the video, you’ll find out things such as Abergel’s ultimate hangover cure, and the one ingredient Balbi would never cook with.
