Hisato Hamada of Japan’s cult beef purveyor Wagyumafia will be cooking at La Rambla for two nights only

Now here’s an offer you can’t refuse: on February 25 and 26, Hisato Hamada of Wagyumafia will be teaming up with La Rambla’s Ferran Tadeo and chef Kotaro Nakashima, formerly of the three Michelin-starred Kaiseki Kanda in Tokyo, for a six-hands dinner highlighting Japanese wagyu beef.

Wagyumafia are dedicated to promoting wildly expensive wagyu, and fun ways to serve it—they have perhaps become best known for their luxurious wagyu beef cutlet sandwich—that thick-cut steak, with its uniform primal pinkness, set between two pristine slices of lightly toasted bread, has been endlessly Instagrammed. At Wagyumafia Katsu Sando, the most expensive sandwich is ¥20,000 a pop, because the cut of beef used is chateaubriand.

Hamada will be presenting this signature gyukatsu sando at La Rambla next week, which will be one course out of nine. We’re told the dinner will be a feast of “Spain meets Japan”, with each chef creating three dishes for the menu. Among them will be Tadeo’s torched wagyu crystal bread, and other dishes by Hamada such as Kobe beef gyoza and a “double decker” uni and wagyu creation.

The menu is priced at HK$1,880 per person.
