A Luminous Journey was the theme of the Asian Cultural Council Hong Kong’s (ACCHK) inaugural gala dinner, which was held at The Qube at PMQ and which toasted their 30th anniversary. The evening was not short of entertainment and began with an interpretative dance performance titled Pulsars between Infinity and Nothingness, which was performed and choreographed by ACCHK 1993 fellow, Allen Lam. Carol Lin, a 2006 fellow, performed a powerful rendition of Gypsy Song from the musical Carmen and other standout performances included a poetry recital of 1990 fellow Leung Ping Kwan's On the Road, a Wanderer, which was read by 2013 fellow, Yeung Yang. As part of ACCHK’s fundraising efforts on the night, there was a short charity auction, with Elaine Kwok of Christie's acting as auctioneer, the lots included a painting by 2006 fellow, Wai Qingji, which was painted in celebration of ACCHK’s 30th anniversary. Another notable lot which sold above estimates was a visit and lunch with 1994 fellow, Cai Guo-Qiang at his OMA designed studio in New York. A high point of the evening was the presentation of the renowned Blanchette Hooker Rockefeller Award, which was awarded to Hans Michael Jebsen, for his continuous support and contributions to the ACCHK’s efforts over the years.
